The Neighbor Archive Contest

Do you live near Bartram’s Garden, or did you in the past? Bartram’s is collecting photographs of neighbors at the Garden! Contribute a photo and win a free portrait session at the Garden.

All photos will be added to The Neighbor Archive.

Deadline: September 29, 2017

What is The Neighbor Archive?

Artist Aislinn Pentecost-Farren is working with Bartram’s Garden to find and preserve photographs of neighbors at the Garden, as part of the Southwest Roots arts initiative with Mural Arts Philadelphia.

Who is a neighbor?

Anyone who lives or used to live near the Garden.

What kinds of photos are you looking for?

Any photos that 1) were taken at Bartram’s Garden, and 2) are of a neighbor of the Garden.

Photos can be old, new, posed, candid, busy, peaceful, of many neighbors or just one.

Why do you want my photo?

We are trying to build Bartram’s photo collection so that current and future generations can see the many neighbors that are part of the Garden’s history.

What happens to my photo?

It will be preserved in the historical archive at Bartram’s Garden and may be shared on Bartram’s website, marketing, and social media.

If enough photos are collected, we will create an exhibition to celebrate the donors and share the photos with the public.

What’s in it for me?

Anyone who submits a photo to The Neighbor Archive will be entered into a drawing for a free photo shoot and family membership at Bartram’s Garden!

Your personal history will become part of the history of the Garden.

How do I submit a photo?

  • Post your photo on social media and tag it #NeighborArchive
  • Post on the Bartram’s Garden Facebook page
  • Email it to

Include as much information as you can, including when it was taken, what was the occasion, who is in it, and where they live or lived as neighbors of the Garden.
