Instructor Yam Vallis will lead folks in an Afro-Herbalism workshop on the history of the Elderberry plant and the making of syrup. Participants will have a chance to take home elderberry syrup, but we will also make large batches, with the intention of distributing the rest, with a focus on Philly’s Black community and herbal hubs like Black Bird Rising.
Formalized in 2018, SWWAG represents a coalition of local farmers and growers, led collaboratively by the Urban Tree Connection, the Philadelphia Orchard Project, Sankofa Community Farm at Bartram’s Garden, and the Garden at CHOP Karabots.
