Don’t miss the official opening event for the Queer Ecologies Art Exhibition, presented in partnership with the William Way LBGT Community Center !
This collaborative, multimedia art exhibition features submissions from local queer artists and is curated by Irvin Chan Gomez and the Garden’s very own Programs Coordinator, Shanna Mitchell.
This exhibition is a significant cultural event in WWCC’s history and the LGBTQ cultural community in Philadelphia. Importantly, this event is the first partnership between these two important cultural centers in the city.
About the Queer Ecologies Exhibition
The focus of ‘Queer Ecologies’ is to explore the intersections of queerness, ecology, and community building. This project started as an open call to Philly-based LBGTQIA+ artists to submit artistic work on topics including but not limited to: the climate crisis, queering the outdoors/access to the outdoors by queer communities, queerness in nature/ artificial vs natural, and the relationship between self-identity and our natural + built environments.
This gallery will be open for in-person public viewing at Bartram’s Garden through Thursday, August 18, and virtually at the WWCC website.
