Public Meeting about Chemical Contamination

May 22 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Richard Allen Preparatory Charter School
2601 S. 58th Street
Philadelphia, PA

In Summer 2024, we learned of a potential chemical contamination originating at a privately owned site adjacent to Bartram’s Garden and the Bartram’s Mile Trail. According to the Pennsylvania Department of Health and our independent test results, most park users are at very low risk for exposure. The impacted site is a privately owned industrial property and is not an area of public access.

The property owner is required to hold a public meeting about the contamination. All are welcome.

Please note that the meeting will be held at Richard Allen Preparatory Charter School, 2601 S. 58th Street. Parking is available on-site. The school is also accessible via the T5 (#36) trolley.

In addition, the PA Department of Environmental Protection has received a report from the property owner detailing test results and remediation plans. The report is now publicly available online and in our Welcome Center, open every day, 9:30am–4:30pm.

Visit www.bartramsgarden.org/2024contamination to access the report and for more details.
