Opening Day for Trails Bike Ride (2018)

April 21, 2018 @ 5:00 am - 6:00 am

Philly friends: To kick off the spring trail season and celebrate the national Opening Day for Trails, join us for a bike ride from Cobbs Creek Community Environmental Center to Bartram’s Garden. We’ll ride 3.2 miles along the Cobbs Creek Trail and the 58th Street Greenway. These trails are part of the Circuit Trails, the trail network of the greater Philadelphia region, as well as the East Coast Greenway, a national trail stretching from Maine to Florida. The ride is hosted by the East Coast Greenway Alliance and the Pennsylvania Environmental Council.

Meet at the entrance to Cobbs Creek Community Environmental Center (63rd St. and Catharine St.) ready to ride at 10 am, with your own bikes and helmets. Biking or transit+biking is highly encouraged, but limited parking is available along 63rd St. We’ll ride about 30 minutes to Bartram’s River Plaza.  Learn more about the Cobbs Creek Community Environmental Center before riding and about Bartram’s Garden at the end of the ride.

Additionally, community groups from Southwest Philly will be out at Bartram’s River Plaza to talk with participants, including Southwest CDC and African Culture Alliance of North America (ACANA). Pack a lunch to carry on your bike If you’d like to stop and eat when we get to Bartram’s. You can opt to ride back from there or explore Bartram’s Garden and Bartram’s Mile before returning to Cobbs Creek. A guided return ride can be provided for those interested.
