Moth Observation (2017)

moth observation

July 24, 2017 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

Bartram’s Garden
5400 Lindbergh Blvd.
Philadelphia, 19143 United States

Free

We’ll be celebrating National Moth Week by hanging out with naturalist Ken Frank and woodland gardener Mandy Katz in the lower garden, luring at an incredible array of nocturnal insects with black lights, overripe bananas and molasses.

Intrigued? Come out for a rare opportunity to get an up-close look at some of the ethereal animals that spend the days hidden in plain sight in Philly’s urban wilderness. Open to seasoned entomologists and curious newcomers alike, we’ll work together to observe, identify and photograph moth species. Afterward, we’ll compile our data and share it with scientists all over the world!

Register below, and visit www.nationalmothweek.org for information on how to host a moth event of your own this year.
