Lower Schuylkill History & Ecology Tour by Canoe

July 12, 2017 @ 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Bartram’s Garden
5400 Lindbergh Blvd.
Philadelphia, 19143 United States

In partnership with Camden’s Urban Promise, this is a small group canoe tour of the history and ecology of the lower Schuylkill River. Participants will paddle in wooden canoes, hand-built by youth in the Urban Promise’s boat building program. The tour will be lead by trained “River Guides”, high school aged youth who will provide information on important landmarks and urban river ecology. A great way to learn the story of the lower Schuylkill River in style.

Wooden canoes, paddles, and lifejackets will be provided.

All skill levels welcome!

Arrive by 6:00 pm, we will depart the dock by 6:15 pm.

We can not accommodate late arrivals.

We are offering this tour one more time on July 13th.

Please only sign up for one tour; it is the same program on all dates.

Expect moderate physical exertion. Minors must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

$10 for registration, 10 participants max per tour.

For additional information on this event, please reach out to our River Programs Manager, Danielle Redden at
