As part of a partnership with the Sierra Club, this is a small group kayak tour of the unique landscape of the refineries and industrialized areas of the lower Schuylkill River. The tour will educate paddlers on how fossil fuel industries impact the past, present, and future of our city. Kayaks, paddles, and lifejackets will be provided.
Fee: A suggested cash donation of $5 for Bartram’s Garden members and $10 for non-members. All proceeds go to support the work of EDGE, a Philly-based environmental justice organization.
We are offering this tour twice, on 9/24 and 10/1. Please only sign up for one tour – it is the same program on both dates.
No kayaking experience necessary, but expect moderate physical exertion. Minors must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Children 11 years and younger are not allowed to be in a boat alone – an adult must accompany them in a tandem kayak.
