Garden Walk and Nature Journaling

April 26 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Bartram’s Garden Courtyard, Coach House and Barn
5400 Lindbergh Blvd.
Philadelphia, 19143 United States

Rain date: May 3

Certified in Nature Journal Education through the Wild Wonder Foundation, Meg Lemieur will teach a class on the practice of nature journaling. She defines nature journaling as collecting and organizing observations, questions, connections, and explanations about the natural world that surrounds us on paper using words, pictures, and numbers. You don’t need to be an artist, writer, or a naturalist to begin. In this class, you will be guided to look closely, notice more, and learn to notate the wild world at Bartram’s Garden.

Teaming up with Lady Danni, a passionate forager, and member of the American Herbalist Guild and the American Botanical Council, you’ll be guided through observations of the wonders that live throughout the garden and given wisdom from their many years of experience building and being in relationship with the natural world.

This class is a creative & inclusive way to engage with the great variety of plants and animals in the garden on a closer, more personal level. Nature journaling is meditative and helps us slow down in the midst of busy schedules and a bustling modern world. As you know, nature gives many life lessons and who knows- we might even learn something about ourselves in the process.

Participants should bring:

  • portable chair/blanket/towel to sit on
  • unlined notebook with hardback, or paper and clipboard
  • pencil (something like a regular 2B pencil is fine)
  • eraser (a hard pink eraser works great)
  • colored pencils (optional)
  • watercolor paints, brush, water (optional)
