“Bartram’s Garden” by Eleanor Stanford: Reading and Book Release Celebration

April 18, 2015 @ 11:00 am - 1:30 pm

What appears untidy and lacking
in design is in fact intentional:
quiet milkweed beside the conflagration
of red fireweed; the brackish
Schyulkill feeding stately oaks.  John knew the author
lays his borders, then steps back.

-Excerpt from Bartram’s Garden

Join us for a very special reading by Eleanor Stanford, author of this newly-released volume of poetry, inspired by none other than Bartram’s Garden. Followed by a reception with light refreshments and charming live music by Slowey and The Boats.

Eleanor’s poems and essays have appeared in Poetry, Ploughshares, The Harvard Review, The Georgia Review, The Massachusetts Review, Brain, Child Magazine, and others.

Slowey and The Boats plays Hawaiian-inspired instrumentals from a wide range of genres. Prominently featuring the hauntingly melodious wails of steel guitarist Isaac Stanford, the music is fun, accessible and sophisticated.

Tickets are free, but please RSVP below. Seating is first-come, first-served.
