John Bartram’s stone house in southwest Philadelphia is unique in the world of architecture. Imagined and engineered by his own hand, the Bartram house is a reflection of the 18th century botanist’s mind and ideals. In this Artists’ Workshop, we will tour the house and explore the particular quirks and one of a kind folk artistry that make the 1731 house one of the best-loved sites in Philadelphia. Each participant will have an opportunity to draw certain sites throughout the house, with materials and instruction provided.
