Plants Are Our Story

“whatsoever whether great or small ugly or handsom sweet or stinking…everything in the universe in thair own nature appears beautiful to mee.”  John Bartram, 1740.

John Bartram, America’s first botanist, was endlessly curious about the natural world.  He wanted to learn everything about the world around him. He truly believed that all living things were beautiful in their own right.  His explorations of wild American landscapes were deeply influential to Europeans who were hungry for any and all information about the New World.
