1892: The First Field Trip of the Philadelphia Botanical Club to Bartram’s Garden—The Formation of the Club and the Preservation of Bartram’s Garden
Bartram Curator Joel Fry will speak about early preservation efforts at Bartram’s Garden, including the fascinating story of Thomas Meehan. Meehan was an early steward of Bartram’s Garden and one of the founders of the Philadelphia Botanical Club in December 1891. The first PBC field trip was to Bartram’s Garden in 1892 – and they are visiting the Garden again this year!
