A Multimedia Exhibit of Artworks by Philadelphia Area

Architects & Designers at Bartram's Garden

The weekend will also feature boat cruises, an open air painting class

at Schuylkill River Park, an architectural tour/lecture, and tours

of the National Historic Landmark Bartram House.

Activities are sponsored by Bartram’s Garden, the Philadelphia Chapter

of the American Institute of Architects, the Center for Architecture,

Free Schuylkill River Park, and the Samuel S. Fleisher Art Memorial.

The exhibit will feature works by more than 30 local architects

and designers in oil, charcoal, watercolor, collage, and pen and ink, along with signed posters, lithographs, and photographs.

All the artwork is for sale.

Proceeds support the Center for Architecture,

the non-profit arm of the

Philadelphia Chapter of the American Institute of Architects.

Thursday, June 7

Meet-the-Artists Reception

5:30-7:30 pm, Bartram Barn

Enjoy wine-and-cheese while browsing the art in the historic stone barn.

FREE.

Boat Cruise to the Art Show at Bartram's Garden

5:45 pm, Walnut Street Dock

Board the River Loop at the Walnut Street Dock for an evening cruise down the Schuylkill River.  Disembark at the Bartram Dock, stroll through the meadow to the Bartram Barn and the art exhibit.  (Moderate uphill walk).  $30 round-trip, pre-paid reservations required.

Friday, June 8

Art Exhibit Open

12-4 pm, Bartram Barn

Browse the art in the historic stone barn, tour the National Historic Landmark Bartram House, and stroll the grounds of America's oldest living botanic garden.

FREE.

 

Saturday, June 9

Open-Air Painting Class

10 am-4 pm, Schuylkill River Park

Includes an opening lecture, demonstration of oil painting techniques, and visualization of subject matter. All media (oil, acrylic, pastel, watercolor) are welcome, though emphasis is on oil painting.

$50 Fleisher members, $60 non-members; pre-registration required.

Browse the "Art by Architects" exhibit, tour the National Historic Landmark Bartram House, and view Drexel University Department of Architecture graduates Paul Avazier's and Nick Moose's thesis projects – one about consumer waste, social awareness, and rebirth, and the other about athletics and connections to the community – in the Bartram Coach House.

12:30 pm, Walnut Street Dock

A Conservation with James Dart, AIA

1 pm, Bartram House

Join the architect of the award-winning Bartram restoration/renovation/new construction projects for an informal tour and discussion of his work at America's oldest living botanic garden.
